Rules for One Word Photo Challenge

Each photo will be submitted by note and each photo must reside in your gallery. The note should contain the title to the photo, a link to the photo, and a link to the deviant as well as to which challenge the photo applies.

With a group our size (over 1,200 members) there is a need for rules and policies. Please read and adhere to the following as it will make One Word Photo a nicer place for all of us to belong to. We look forward to the day when deviantArt can accomodate groups!


General
We are a part of the deviantART community and must abide by all of deviantART's rules and policies. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

We have at least 5 challenges every month. There is a new challenge every week, and an overall challenge for the month. We ask that you try to participate in at least 2 challenges each month. There is a new monthly black and white challenge as well.

Only 1 deviation can be submitted for any challenge (Weekly or Monthly)


Submissions to One Word Photo Challenges

All submissions will now be submitted by note. An example on how to submit the perfect note for each submission can be found here.

Photomanipulations are no longer allowed, except for minor tweaking of contrast, adding a border, etc. The one exception is to change a color photograph into a black and white photograph. For black and white photography, many photography books suggest taking the photo in color and changing it into black and white using software as the best method to achieve the desired result. OWP does not endorse this method (nor any other method for that matter), but we do understand that many members may adopt this approach.

Collaborations are not permitted. We as a group would like to see what YOU can do!

All submissions must conform to deviantART's submission policies.

If a submission is of a mature subject matter, you MUST check the appropriate box when submitting.

You can NOT resubmit a photograph submitted to a previous One Word Photo Challenge for a cuurent One Word Photo Challenge.

We do not limit the type of photographs (nudes, political, etc.) submitted for our challenges as long as they fall within deviantART's acceptability guidelines.

The Admins reserve the right to remove any deviation that does not conform to deviantART's submission guidelines.

You maintain the copyright on any photographs/art submitted to this account. One Word Photo Challenge will never grant permission for others to use images in our galleries for any purpose. They don't belong to us, they belong to you. If we get a request for use of an image it will be forwarded to the copyright holder.

It is necessary for photographs submitted to One Word Photo Challenge to also reside in your own gallery. We are interested in seeing your best.


Length of Challenges
Weekly challenges last for 2 weeks. There is plenty of time to participate

Monthly challenges run through the date given, usually a month.

The OWP admins reserve the right to change the rules in the blink of an eye to better suit the needs of the OWP membership and/or deviantArt.com


Favourites - VERY IMPORTANT
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES can a member their own photograph/art


Rules for Voting
We will notify members of the current challenge to vote by Journal. Each Journal announcement should contain an example of how to vote.

VOTING - Suppose you want to vote for "squeeze-sigpras-frozen" for the SQUEEZE Challenge ... in the subject line (the same place where you see VOTE-SQUEEZE-DEVIANT-DEVIATION in the voting note sent to each member) you would put the following:

VOTE-SQUEEZE-SIGPRAS-FROZEN

You generally have several days to vote.
Voting ends when we count the votes. Late votes will not count.
The Admin's decisions are final.
The challenge winners will be put into the OWP gallery.

The primary purpose of One Word Photo Challenge is to motivate our members to use their cameras in creative ways. Our biggest hope is that you enjoy the experience and your time here. Our members make One Word Photo Challenge a wonderful group (in our opinion) to belong to.
